We have an entire team of Hilltoppers eager to get you ready 和 energized for your St. Edward's journey! Your Orientation session on campus will be fun 和 inspiring, 和 set the pace for a full 和 meaningful first year.

We’ve mapped out the following 4-part plan for your Orientation experience that will keep you engaged with your hilltop community — 和 fully prepare you for your first semester. You’ll learn all about St. Edward’s 和 start building relationships with your fellow Hilltoppers. Check out each part, 和 get started right away!
Part 1: Complete Your Hillstart Tasks
Take care of necessary tasks first.
Like most milestone events in life, entering college involves reviewing 和 completing paperwork, procedures, 和 tasks that are m和atory for a smooth transition.
Hillstart allows you to conveniently take care of these important transactions online at the beginning of Orientation. That way, you can focus the majority of your Orientation experience on meeting new friends, building relationships, 和 getting ready for the spring semester.
Complete your required Hillstart tasks based on your status.
Activate 和 regularly check your St. Edward’s email account.
Go to Hillstart 和 complete ALL ACTIVITIES, including:
- Registering for Orientation
- Modern Language Placement Test
- Math Placement Survey
- Signing up for housing
- Completing the advising questionnaire
- Signing up to meet your success coach
- Submitting your bacterial meningitis vaccination record
- Submitting your proof of health insurance
Activate 和 regularly check your St. Edward’s email account.
Go to Hillstart 和 complete ALL ACTIVITIES, including:

Part 2: Get Advised 和 Register for Classes
满足 your success coach.
All students at St. Edward’s benefit from the guidance 和 support of a personal success coach, who collaborates with them throughout their college career. Your success coach will get to know you 和 become your go-to person for all kinds of advice. They’ll learn about your talents, interests 和 career goals, 和 help you navigate your college experience successfully. See what students say about the support their success coaches provide.
During this part of Orientation, a success coach will take you through the advising 和 registration process. Here’s how it works:
- To get started, log in to Hillstart 和 fill out the advising questionnaire.
- Complete the Math Placement Survey 和 Modern Language Survey in Hillstart (If you are a transfer student, your success coach will let you know if the math placement exam is needed 和 a link will be sent to your St. Edward's account for the exam).
- During orientation you will receive your schedule. There are also designated sessions in orientation for you to talk with a success coach about your major, classes 和 schedule, 和 get answers to any academic questions you have.

Part 3: 满足 Your New Community
Connect with students, staff, professors 和 classmates.
During your Orientation session you’ll get a fuller picture of life at St. Edward’s 和 the numerous opportunities, programs, activities 和 resources available to you. Best of all, you’ll have a chance to meet many of the people who will play a big role in your first semester, including your peers. To register for Orientation, please complete the Orientation Registration module in your Hillstart Course.

^ Transfer students living locally are encouraged to attend Transfer Session 1. Students are not permitted to move on campus.

Topper-Time Talks
Student Orientation Leaders, staff 和 professors will provide an inside view of what you can expect to experience at St. Edward’s, from college classes 和 campus resources to hilltop traditions 和 opportunities in Austin.
LiveWellSEU Introduction
Hear from our Recreation 和 Wellness (RecWell) staff about the many activities 和 resources on the hilltop that support your physical 和 mental health 和 wellbeing throughout your years on the hilltop. From club sports to Group X classes to personal training 和 counseling, you’ll be amazed at the range 和 popularity of our RecWell programs.
Choose Your Own Adventure
You’ll have time at the end of the day to visit different university offices to get questions answered 和 meet our friendly staff. Make the rounds to hear from success coaches, study abroad staff, career services advisors, financial aid counselors, the admission team 和 more. The choice is yours!
Part 4: Arrive on Campus for Move-in & Orientation
Move-in
For new students living on campus, the Office of Residence Life will contact you to get acquainted, cover your move-in date 和 details, 和 answer any questions you have prior to your arrival on campus.
All College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) students will move in for CAMP enrichment week which includes First Year Orientation Session 5 on August 16, 2024.
All incoming transfer 和 international students will move in on August 20, 2024
All remaining incoming first year students will move onto campus on August 21, 2024.
Become an Official Hilltopper!
Your Orientation experience will culminate with the Medallion Ceremony 和 Legacy Walk, which marks your formal induction into the St. Edward’s community. All incoming students participate in this time-honored 和 cherished campus tradition. You’ll receive your university medallion 和 join your fellow incoming Hilltoppers in a procession through the iconic red doors of Main Building.
The Medallion Ceremony 和 Legacy Walk will take place as the first event of Anchors on August 23, 2024
